  1. Any short cut or quick fix a person takes to achieve weight/fat loss has its trade offs which are usually risks associated with surgery or side affects.

Only if you have exhausted traditional methods of fat loss (diet/exercise) should surgery become an option.

  2. I agree that in the extreme minority of cases surgery really is the only viable option to facilitate effective weight loss. Though what I think many people don’t realize is that surgery is not without its risks, stomach ulcers, cancers as well as many other unintended side affects of various surgical procedures are very real risks.

The risk of serious and life threatening side affects from gradually adjusting your diet and exercise regime to promote a higher level of personal health and fitness really has no negative side effects at all.

So in my view its always wise to exhaust all the natural and more conventional methods of fat loss before resulting to surgery.

I think too many people view surgery as a ’short cut’ and I think this is a bad attitude to have and will not serve them in the long term.
